The Biology MFT is a standardized, national exam from Educational Testing Service and is used at over 300 colleges and universities around the country. 芭乐大人版app约炮 students majoring in biology, environmental science, or cell &听molecular biology must take听the exam in order听to graduate.

The subject matter covered by the Major Field Test (MFT) in Biology is organized into four major areas:

  • cell biology;
  • molecular biology and genetics;
  • organismal biology; and
  • population biology, evolution, and ecology.

The test contains approximately 150 multiple-choice questions, a number of which are grouped in sets and based on descriptions of laboratory and field situations, diagrams, or experimental results. .

All biology, cell and molecular, and environmental science majors are required to take and pass the Major Field Test (MFT) in order to graduate. The MFT typically takes place early in the spring semester,听in Donahue Auditorium on the first floor of the Dolan Center for Science & Technology.

Excused absences from the exam will be provided ONLY for extraordinary circumstances. Students are required to submit excused absence documentation through the听Office of Academic Advising.

Students who miss the exam for unexcused reasons will not be permitted to take the exam until the next time it is offered. Note that in such circumstances a student has not officially completed a degree requirement, and until the student takes the MFT and passes, the (degree evaluation) graduation application status is incomplete.听
