What made you decide to go into the Counseling field?

I always knew that I would end up in a "helping profession." My bachelors degree is in psychology and my first graduate program was in General Psychology at the University of Dayton. There, I studied social and developmental psychology while working in the Office for Residential Programs/Student Affairs. I really loved working with that population (emerging adults). After life threw curveballs, I had to make a move and that move entailed me moving back to Youngstown and headed back to school in College Counseling. This combined two passions - working with emerging adults and counseling (helping). From there, I went for my PhD at Kent State and have been counseling and teaching since!

What attracted you to 芭乐大人版app约炮?

I "fell" into a practicum and internship at 芭乐大人版app约炮 while in graduate school at YSU. As I went through training and learned about the history and mission of 芭乐大人版app约炮, I started to connect to 芭乐大人版app约炮 on a deeper level. After working there in both positions, I knew that 芭乐大人版app约炮 was special and I knew that I wanted to be at 芭乐大人版app约炮 in some capacity (as a counselor or counselor educator). Also, as I got to know the students I realized how special this place and its students really are.

What are some of your favorite pastimes, interests, or passions outside of work?

Family and friends; travel; bike riding/walking on trails; English humor

What are you most looking forward to this year?

Making some great connections with staff and students; establish myself in advising students and teaching; seeing what I can accomplish as far as getting students interested and becoming active researchers, and becoming involved in the university as well.
